Steering committee meeting for the French project to support the Palestinian Public Finance Institute (Phase II)

The Palestinian Public Finance Institute organized the first meeting of the steering committee for the French project to support the Palestinian Public Finance Institute (PPFI) (Phase II), which is funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) and implemented by Expertise France (EF).

The meeting was opened by Mr. Ahmed Al-Sabah, Accountant General, and the deputy chairman of  PPFI Board , by welcoming the French delegation, starting by Ms. Catherine BONNAUD , the Regional Director of the French Development Agency, Mr. Martin PARENT, Director of the French Development Agency in Jerusalem, Ms. Lorenzo SCHIAVI, Head of the Economic service at the French Consulate General in Jerusalem, Ms. Alisa Rozanova, Director of Economic and Financial Governance at EF, in addition to the project team from France.

Mr. Al-Sabah praised the exceptional relationship between the Palestinian and French Ministries of Finance through the past 15 years, which was reflected in the enhancement of the capacity building in the PFM sector and the support to the reforms conducted by the Ministry of Finance to develop the public financial management system.

 Ms. Nihad Younes, Director General of PPFI, welcomed the attendees, and joined the project team to present the work plan of the 2023 and the future of strategic relations PPFI is willing to build at the regional and international level.

The project team went through the project plan for the year 2023, that was developed in line with PFM strategy and the needs expressed by the Ministry of Finance. the contribution of the French expertise was highlighted by Ms. Laila Gharib, Director General of the General Department of International Relations and development at the Ministry of Finance, and PPFI Board member where she expressed the value added of the French expertise to develop the private and public sector relation for the benefit of the Palestinian economy.

In conclusion, Ms. Catherine Bonneau, Regional Director of the French Development Agency, deeply thanked the Palestinian partners and praised the distinguished performance of the PPFI team, which led the Institute to become a center of excellence in the PFM sector.
