The PPFI organized a ceremonial reception at its Ramallah premises in commemoration of its 10th anniversary. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Finance, Mr. Shukri Bishara, the French Consul General in Jerusalem, Mr. René Troccaz, and the French Development Agency, represented by Ms. Catherine Bonnaud. In addition, numerous guests attended the event, including local and international partners and friends of the PPFI, as well as experts and trainers with whom the Institute has collaborated over the last 10 years.
The event started with premiering a film that documents the PPFI’s work and achievements in the field of capacity building and developing partnerships in the public finance sector since its establishment in 2011 and its various stages of development, through the testimonies of the PPFI’s partners in Palestine, France, and Lebanon.
Ms. Nihad Younes, PPFI’s Director-General, gave the opening speech, emphasizing that this celebration is a homage to all those who have contributed to the success of the PPFI’s work, as well as a consolidation of the current stage and future part calling it a real Franco-Palestinian success story. Ms. Catherine Bonnuad, Regional Director of the French Development Agency (AFD), praised the importance of the PPFI in the capacity-building of the Palestinian PFM sector, expressed pride in the AFD’s partnership with PPFI, and stressed the importance of providing more support to the PPFI.
H.E. the Minister of Finance, Mr. Shukri Bishara, praised the PPFI’s important role in the development of the public finance sector, as well as its close relationship with the Ministry of Finance, where the PPFI works under the umbrella of the Ministry. He also complimented the long-standing friendship between Palestine and France, as well as France’s ongoing assistance for the Palestinian treasury and other development areas.
The Palestinian and French sides signed a memorandum of cooperation to implement a new project for the PPFI at the end of the ceremony, which is the second phase of the present French project to support the PPFI. The project is funded by the AFD and implemented by Expertise France. The project will last for three years, from 2022 to 2024, and will begin early next year.
